After a years-long investigation, the state grand jury report of sexual abuse that happened within six Pennsylvania dioceses over the course of several decades has finally been made public. The nearly page court document, which took two years to compile, spans the course of seventy years and involves over priests accused of sexually assaulting countless victims, many of whom were young boys. Of those 99, a gang of four priests specifically worked together to groom and sexually assault dozens of little boys. To make matters even worse, church officials knew exactly what was going on and did nothing to stop it. All victims were brushed aside, in every part of the state, by church leaders who preferred to protect the abusers and their institution above all.

The data, obtained by the Redfern Legal Centre under freedom of information laws, reveals that since there have been 11, strip-searches conducted by police on men in NSW. Of most concern, the figures show that one year old, one year-old and four year-old boys have been strip-searched by police since The data provides the most complete snapshot yet of the extent to which children are subjected to strip-searches by police after Guardian Australia previously revealed that girls had been strip-searched by police in the past three years, including two year-olds. However, the data is unlikely to capture every strip-search conducted on a minor. The state government is facing growing calls to reform the use of strip-search powers amid widespread evidence that vagueness in the legislation governing their use means police often do not understand the law. While police are only able to conduct a strip-search in the field in cases where the circumstances are serious and urgent, the legislation provides no guidance on what that means in practice.
